Classes Overview

Jiujitsu for kids

This class is designed to help kids gain essential life skills through playful interaction while practicing the art of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). BJJ is a sport meant for teamwork, positive social interaction and bully-proofing. To have your child immersed in BJJ at an early age is an amazing gift for them. They can acquire qualities that make up good character — humility, respect, self-control and perseverance. They will understand that hard work and diligence produces results and rewards. These ethics can translate into their schoolwork and shape them for the future.

Jiujitsu for Adults

Our curriculum focuses on learning and applying fundamental BJJ techniques. Through detailed instructions students will learn self defense, submissions, escapes, positionings takedowns and counter attacks, sweeps or superior positioning, etc. The content of the class will vary and evolve constantly to keep up with the latest developments.

NOGI

This class is also referred as submission grappling and takes the same approach as BJJ, but without a uniform to grab on to. The main difference is the grips. Submission grappling tends to be more fluid and fast-paced. The No Gi class focuses on fighting in a clinch and on the group. This helps students to expand their skill set by adding an entirely new dimension.

COMPETITION CLASS

While there is minimal instruction, this is NOT an open mat. Practice normally consists of hard drilling, followed by hard sparring. Participants are expected to push themselves. You don’t have to be in shape, you just have to try your hardest. Situational sparring, and marathon sprawls are a part of the practice on occasion. Arrive on time in order to hear the session plan before we begin. Anyone arriving more than 10 mins late will not be allowed to participate. Please plan on staying for the entire practice.

METCON

Metabolic conditioning describes exercises that vary from moderate to high intensity. Metcon exercise routines are intended to be completed in roughly 20 minutes and specifically use certain energy pathways. The goal of metabolic conditioning is to improve both the aerobic and anaerobic systems.

Kettlebell Conditioning

Kettlebell training methods are extremely versatile. Kettlebells are perfect for metabolic workouts, HIIT, EMOM, AMRAP, TABATA, complex training, mobility training, circuit training, flows, and more. The best way to keep your body guessing is by throwing new methods of training at it, and when it comes to kettlebells, the options are extensive. There’s nothing better than doing a workout that is equally as fun as it is effective.

Animal Flow

A little combination of gymnastics, yoga, and breakdancing added together. A ground based movement for building mobility, strength, flexibility and developing motor control coordination.

Yoga for BJJ

Yoga for BJJ is for anyone that wants to improve their efficiency, flexibility and their longevity in the sport and prevent the many future injuries that are caused by jiu jitsu.

JUDO

This class is a takedown focused class with the gi (kimono). Judo is a system of self defence, which makes use of an opponent’s strength to overcome them.
